Obituary for
Janice "Memaw" Louise Keller (Sawyer)
Janice Keller, better known to everyone as “Memaw” was born in Houston, TX on May 15, 1944 and passed away Friday, December 9, 2016. She was a loving mother and Memaw to everyone. No matter who you were, she was always willing to give the shirt off her back to anyone in need.
After being a stay at home Mom for many years, she enjoyed working for the Harris County Toll Road as a toll collector, where she met many friends who would come through her booth every day.
After becoming disabled and unable to work outside of the home, she spent her time with grandchildren making sure they were always fed and where they were supposed to be. It might be taking them to and from school, watching livestock shows, or her favorite, taking Cohen to get something to eat.
She always made time for her friends in need as they got older. Whether it was a phone call just to chat or a visit in the hospital or nursing home, Memaw was always there.
She loved to play cards with friends and family. Memaw was a hard one to beat, but if on the rare occasion you outwitted her, she would always insist on a rematch.
She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Gene Keller; children Shari Mailen, Karen McKay, Randy Keller, Mark Keller, and Tammy Jones; 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; and her faithful four-legged child CoCo; sisters, Maxine McBee and June Jackson; and many other family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Max and Aline Sawyer; brothers, Marvin Barnett and Claude Sawyer and her favorite boxer, Buttons.
Services will be held at Rosewood Funeral Home in Porter. The visitation will be Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 6-9pm. The Funeral Service will be Friday, December 16, 2016 at 12pm.
Flowers are welcome or donations can be made to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter.
