Obituary for David D. ""Pee Paw"" Van Meter

David D. Van Meter “Pee Paw” 86, born August 2, 1930 in Dallas, Texas went to be with Jesus on December 13, 2016.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carolyn Van Meter; by his children, Mary Coutu and husband Carl, Rhonda Weaver and husband Ken, Mike Jaks and wife Peggy; by his grandchildren, Kathryn Madison and husband Kevin, Bryan Weaver and wife Kari, Corey Jaks and wife Cameron, Logan Jaks, Stephanie Maudsley, Haleigh Maudsley, Jessica Weaver, John Paul Sisson, Anna and Emma McCarter, Chloe Ann Doucette; by his great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Jaks, Aubrey Madison, Chloe Weaver, and Jackson Weaver; by his sister Loyce Horn.
Pee Paw was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Sr. and Vera M. Lowe; by his brother, Clyde Jr.; and by his granddaughter, Kendra Mykel Jaks.
He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1949 and shortly after joined the U.S. Air Force serving his country honorably for 4 years. Pee Paw enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and spent most of his life fostering 502 children.
Pee Paw was a man of few words but I know he’s up in Heaven looking down shaking his head at us for putting him in the spotlight. His wife remembers him as a good, honest, kind man of integrity.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service time of 12 p.m., on Monday, December 19, 2016, at Rosewood Funeral Home Chapel, 3939 Pasadena Blvd., Pasadena, Texas 77503. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
