Life Story for Helen Jane Hood (Drenski)

Helen Jane Hood (Drenski)
Helen Jane Hood, age 86, of Deer Park, TX passed away on February 25, 2017.  Helen was born on May 10, 1930 in Kewaunee, Wisconsin to Clara (Rataajcak) and Vincent Drenski.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clara and Vincent Drenski, her brothers Stanley Drenski, Alex Drenski, Ed Drenski and Nick Drenski, as well as her sister Theresa Dupont. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 20 plus years, Charles Hood.
Helen is survived by her loving son, Allen Burris, grandson Shawn Burris and wife Stephanie of Pasadena, Texas, granddaughter Jennifer Garza and husband David of San Antonio, Texas, and great grandchildren Megan Burris, Drake Little, Willow Garza and Lilith Garza.  She is also survived by her sister Mary Ann Seaberg and brothers Vincent Drenski, Jerry Drenski and Casimir Drenski.  She also has a loving extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Helen was a member of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Deer Park, Texas and was devoted to her Catholic faith, loved the Lord and continued to study his word up to the time she was called home.  Helen was a retired cafeteria worker from Parkwood Elementary in Deer Park ISD and a seamstress.  Family was very important to Helen.  She continued to return to Wisconsin for the annual family reunion and never missed an opportunity to visit with her loved ones, doting on her only son and two grandchildren.  She enjoyed sewing, playing dominoes and various card games.  In the not so distant past, you could find her playing Canasta and dominoes at Providence Square Apartments.  She was loved by all and loved all she met.
In her early years, she worked the fields with her family in Wisconsin, attending grade school and enjoying life.  She gave birth to her only son, Allen Burris.  He was the light of her life and continued to be until her death.  They moved to Tennessee, residing on the boat docks for several years before moving into town.  They moved to the Houston, Texas area in 1964.  She married Charles Hood in 1976 and they moved to the ranch in West Texas.  There they farmed and raised pigs.  She enjoyed traveling across the United States and frequented the Lake Tahoe area, visiting family and friends.  After Charles’ passing, Helen moved back home to Pasadena, Texas where she resided until her death.
All are welcome to come and celebrate the life of Helen.  Visitation will be Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Rosewood Funeral Home, 2602 South Houston Ave, Humble, Texas 77396 in Pasadena, Texas 77503, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM with a service of remembrance to be held in the Chapel on Friday, March 3rd at 2:00 PM.  Helen will be laid to rest in Kewaunee, Wisconsin on Thursday, March 9 at St. Hedwig Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made to either the American Heart Association or their local church home. The family would like to thank everyone that has offered prayers, meals and support.
