Marvin Herbert Grimes passed away March 20, 2017. He was Born January 8, 1924 in Itawamba County Mississippi to Vester Grimes and Sarah Grissom.

Marvin served in the US. Navy as a baker and received an Honorable Discharge in 1946. He continued his work as a baker, which led to his meeting Nora I Key, a cake decorator at Henke Pilot. They were married on March 27, 1952.

Their strong work ethic and passion for baking led to the opening of Grimes Bakery in Humble, Texas. They retired in 1981 to travel, fish and enjoy family.

Marvin is preceded in death by his son; James Wesley Grimes; 6 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his wife of 65 years; Nora Grimes; daughter, Judy Tanes and husband Thomas, granddaughter Valerie Vacante and husband Paul Barrett, Angela Vacante Noto and husband Brady; grandson Joshua Grimes and wife Casandra; great-grand children Payton, Braylon, Christen, Cameron, Asa and Azur; and many other relatives and friends.

A visitation wil be held at Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble, Texas on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 5 PM to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Rosewood Funeral Home Chapel in Humble at 10 AM Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park in Humble.
