Obituary for
William "Bill" Green Pierpont Jr.
William “Bill” Green Pierpont, Jr., 67, was called to his heavenly home on Friday, March 31, 2017. He was born in Marshall, TX on February 8, 1950 to Dr. William Green Pierpont, Sr. and Dorothee Smith Pierpont of Marshall.
Bill graduated from Marshall High School in 1968 and then attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX majoring in Business and Information Systems. Bill was a founding member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity at SFA and through alumni corporation board leadership helped the chapter secure a chapter house after he left SFA. He was also a member of Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity. He spent many years working with young men as Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. Having achieved his Eagle, Order of the Arrow, and God and Country, he was truly a role model for the young men he mentored in that organization.
Professionally, he worked in the savings and loan industry for fifteen years in Houston, followed by owning his own company providing consulting services in IT infrastructure and installation, and then worked as General Manager and Information Systems Manager for Hadrian Corporation where he worked until retirement June 1, 2016.
On June 25, 1972, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Glenna Gindorf Pierpont of Houston, TX. No children were born to this union, but Bill and Glenna have been a loving uncle and aunt and support to their nieces and nephews and godchildren throughout their lives.
Bill was a faithful Christian man with integrity, honesty and a big smile for everyone. As he fought the good fight with cancer he was a true inspiration to those who knew him. First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood was his church home with Glenna. Together they spent much of their time volunteering and giving back to children’s initiatives and philanthropies over the years.
As a young man he was a member of DeMolay. He was a 32rd degree Master Mason, and a lifetime member of West University Masonic Lodge 1292. Bill was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, SJ, USA and the Arabia Shrine Temple.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. William Green Pierpont, Sr. and his grandparents.
He is survived by his spouse, Glenna Pierpont; his mother, Dorothee Pierpont; brother and wife, Dr. Philip and Amy Pierpont; sister and husband, Sandra and Jerry Stern; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandy and Paul Cherry; niece and husband, Kristin and Tyler Wind; nephew and wife; Brad and Magen Cherry; nephew, John Pierpont; and two grand-nephews, Carsen Cherry and Jens Wind, and cherished godchildren and many dear friends.
The family wishes to thank Bill’s many caregivers, specifically, Dr. Kirk Heyne, Dr. Russell Radoff, Dr. Amy Mynderse, Dr. Tang, Dr. Chung Sung, Dr. Leah Folb and the nurses and staff of Methodist Hospital, Houston, and Houston Hospice.
