Charlsie Jean Hancock (Gibson)
Charlsie Jean Hancock, 89, passed away April 10, 2017 in Pasadena, TX. Charlsie was born October 14, 1927 in Teague, TX to Carmie and Bonnie Lee Gibson, who both preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her husband, James P. Urquhart; husband, Thomas Hancock and sister, June Scovel.
Charlsie enrolled in college in 1959 at the University of Houston as soon as both her sons reached school age. In 1963 she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, graduating magna cum laude. She went to work as an English teacher at Sam Rayburn High School when it first opened, while also continuing to take graduate courses at the University of Houston. In 1969 Charlsie received a Masters degree in Education, and began another career as a high school counselor, first at Dobie High School and then at Clear Lake High School.
Charlsie is survived by her 2 sons, Larry Urquhart and wife Debbie and Mitch Urquhart and wife Lee Ann; grandchildren, Nathan Urquhart, Thad Urquhart and wife Lauri, Haley Urquhart, and Charles Urquhart; great granddaughter, Jolie Urquhart; brother, James Gibson and wife Pat; treasured niece and companion Donna Brenton; loving and caring friend, Debra Packard; nieces and nephews, Sandra Laughman and husband Scott, Gail Palmer and husband Cal; Tommy Scovel, Steve Scovel, Dwain Gibson, and Tony Gibson and wife Jenny; along with numerous great nieces and nephews, and other loving family members.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 10am in Rosewood Pasadena Chapel, interment will follow in Sardis Cemetery in Jewett, TX.
