Mrs. Sandra Ann Klasen (née McClellan), of Houston, TX, died peacefully on Sunday, April 9, 2017. Sandra was battling lung cancer and kidney failure for over a year. She was 81.

Sandra, or Sandy, as she was lovingly referred to by family and friends, was born on September 28, 1935 to Dr. John and Betty Ruth McClellan in Muncie, Indiana. She was the oldest of four. Being an Army family, they moved around a lot and found themselves in Texas. Sandra took courses at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX, where she met her children’s father and began her family. They adopted 2 children, Cathryn in San Antonio, Texas and then Brian while living in Los Angeles, California. Shortly thereafter they moved to Houston.

Sandy met and fell in love with Robert “Bob” Klasen while working together at MSI, Measurement Services Inc. They married and later bought the company. A hard worker, she managed the office and retired at 80 years old in 2016. She lived in the same house in Memorial for many years and spent her final year with her son’s family in Missouri City, TX.

Sandy loved to spend time with family and was extremely talented in crochet and sewing. She made it her goal to crochet blankets for every child, grandchild, and great grandchild. She enjoyed attending family functions, especially celebrating the achievements of her grandchildren: school programs, recitals, baptisms and confirmations to name a few. She enjoyed the company of friends playing Bridge, going on cruises, and recently traveled to New York with friends. Sandra was blessed to be a Grandmother of 14, and a Great Grandmother of 10. She was lovingly referred to as Nanny.

Sandy is survived by her brother, John McClellan; sister, Marcia McDermott and her child Sean.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathryn Cory Buckley, and her children Kendall, Courtney, and Cameron; her son, Brian O’Neill and wife Renée and their children Lucas, Dylan, and Elise; her great grandchildren, Tristan, Bently, Lily, Lexine, and Aireana.

She is also survived by her husband’s children: Robert (Bobby), John (Jack), Richard, Charles (Rusty), Jean Marie (Jeannie), and David (Dooley) Klasen.

She is preceded in death by her father, Dr. John McClellan; mother, Elizabeth Terhune McClellan; brother David McClellan; and husband, Robert E. Klasen.
