Obituary for Wilma Mary Lufburrow (Johnson)

Wilma Mary  Lufburrow (Johnson)
Wilma Mary Lufburrow peacefully entered heaven on June 7th in Belton, Texas with her children by her side. Wilma was born in Pearl River, NY where she graduated from Pearl River High School. She then attended West Virginia Wesleyan College and was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and met her husband Bill Lufburrow. After moving to Houston in 1965, Wilma was active in Methodist Woman Circles at St. Luke’s UMC. Wilma continued her leadership in her Sorority and was a proud member of the Blue Bird Circle and served as President of Women of Rotary where she was presented a Paul Harris Fellow. After moving to Belton, Wilma enjoyed being a part of the Newcomers Group and playing Canasta with her friends. She was proceeded in death by her parents Donald and Hester Johnson and her former husband Bill Lufburrow. She was a loving mother to Dottie Brooks and her husband Jim; Howard Lufburrow and his wife Debbie and Steve Lufburrow and his wife Joan. Wilma loved her grandchildren and their spouses: Christine, husband Ben; Laura Palmer, Jim Brooks, Jeff Brooks, Robert Brooks; Blake Lufburrow, wife Amanda; Erin Oldham, husband Zach; Steven Lufburrow, Jr., wife Sara and Will Lufburrow, wife Terrell. She also had 14 great grandchildren: Christian and Makenzie Palmer; Kaley and Sadie Stewart; Stella, Claire, Luke and Brooks Lufburrow; Carter and Reid Oldham; Leighton Lufburrow and Leslie Campana; Claira and Beckett Lufburrow. She is also survived by her brother Donald Johnson and his wife Jean and her nieces Jennifer Randolph, husband Tim and children. Christy Hudak, husband Keith and children. Nephew John Lufburrow, Jr., wife Charlene; Nieces Lynda Trueblood, husband Mike and Sandy Bishop, husband Mike and numerous great nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff at Creekside Terrace and Kindred Hospice in Belton. Wilma will be laid to rest at Rosewood Cemetery in Humble, TX. Her grandsons Blake Lufburrow, Steven Lufburrow, Will Lufburrow, Jim Brooks, Jeff Brooks and Robert Brooks will serve as pallbearers and the honorary pallbearers will be Christian Palmer, Ben Stewart and Zach Oldham. Visitation will be at Rosewood Memorial Chapel on June 16th at 11:00am immediately followed by her funeral service at noon. Memorial Donations may be made to Goodwill Industries of Houston at goodwillhouston.org.
