Life Story for Pacifico Verzosa Conde

Pacifico Verzosa Conde
Pacifico Verzosa Conde was born on June 5, 1918 to Marcos Cagara and Calixtra Conde in Dulag Leyte, Philippines. The family lived in severe poverty. Full of courage, infinite persistence, and the desire to rise above poverty, he found himself on a boat bound to Manila at a very young age. Upon arriving in Manila, alone and nowhere to go, he remembered his mother telling him to find and follow the light. He thought his mother meant to go to a place full of lights leading him from the pier to the Manila Hotel where his amazing journey began. The hotel security found him and brought him to the police. He found pity from one of the policemen who gave him shelter and hired him as a house keeper. Pacifico was smart, a hard worker, and he was unstoppable. He left his previous employment, and became a house keeper at a photo shop where he learned photography. His outstanding skill in photography caught the eye of Magdalena Caponpon, owner of the Caponpon Photography Studio. It is at this studio where he met his true love. Damasa Ilagan, the younger sister of Magdalena Caponpon, took Pacifico’s breath away. It was love at first sight. Shortly after, they were married at the luxurious Manila Cathedral in the tender age of 18. Pacifico and Damasa had eight living children. He found a love and passion for boxing and he became a boxer part time. Meanwhile, he finished and received a certificate as a radio electronic technician from a US correspondence technical institution called National Radio Institute (NRI). He became a supervisor at Radio Electronics Headquarters Company (REHCO) in San Juan Rizal, Philippines. During the 1970’s Pacifico went to Danang, Vietnam to work as a contracted communication technician at an American camp. A few years later, he became an electrical engineer at SEDCO, an oil company, in Iran. His family were blessed to have been given the chance to move to the United States during his tenure in Iran. From Iran, SEDCO moved him to Spain and he worked there as an electrical engineer until an opportunity opened at an oil drilling company in Brazil where he stayed until his retirement. After a successful time spent overseas, Pacifico retired at the age of 64 in Texas where his family resided. In Texas, he became an active member of the Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Humble. His faith, love, and devotion to the Catholic church and for the Virgin Mary fueled the creation of the very first Our Lady of Fatima Rosary Prayer group in 1983. When Damasa passed away in 1995, he poured his heart and soul to serving the church. His faithfulness encouraged many to keep the prayer group alive. Currently, the Fatima Rosary Prayer group is thriving and standing faithful. Pacifico lived a full ninety-nine years of his life. After waiting twenty-two years to see Damasa again, Pacifico finally reunited with his wife and the Lord on July 22, 2017. He is succeeded by his eight children, eighteen grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
