Betty Mae Standard (Angell)
Betty Mae Standard, born March 17, 1926, in Loveland, Colorado passed away peacefully with her family by her side September 10, 2017, in Humble, Texas.
She is survived by her daughter, Ronda Standard; by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert Standard and wife Bettie by her grandsons, Ryan Standard and Shawn Standard, also by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Bobie Jack Standard; by her sons, Richard Standard and Terry Standard; by her parents, Arthur and Sallie Angell; by her brother, Bobby Angell; and by her sisters, Kathleen Schimpf and Shirley Ward.
Betty loved gardening and baking and she also loved working with children. She was a past member of the Iota Iota chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha in Corpus Christi, Texas which worked with developmentally challenged children and various other endeavors. She was active with her daughter’s girl scout and son’s cub scout troops.
Betty was active in her church while residing in Tuscola, Texas. She served as the church treasurer for many years as well as a deacon’s wife. She enjoyed volunteering for the Vacation Bible School and chaperone for activities with the youth group.
She graduated from High School in Denver, Colorado. After graduation, she moved to California where she met and married Jack Standard. They moved frequently with his naval career, and lived on the island of Guam. She loved her family and raising her four children, often alone with her husband’s deployments overseas.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 23, 2017, at First Baptist Church, Tuscola, Texas. Betty will be buried next to her husband and oldest son in the Tuscola, Texas Cemetery.
