Billie Eugene Johnson
Billie E. Johnson 85, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, born December 30, 1931 at home in Freestone County entered into rest January 2, 2017.
He is survived by his loving wife Vernell, by his son, Nolan Johnson & wife Cathy; by his daughter, Pam Weise and husband Troy; by his special daughter, April Salazar and husband Joe; by his grandchildren, Jocelyne and Cheyenne Salazar; also by 12 other grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren; by his brothers, Eddie R. Johnson and wife Marsha, and Jerry W. Johnson and wife Mildred, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Virgle Johnson and wife Lucille; by his daughter, Sharon Johnson, and by his son, Mike Johnson; and by his sister-in-law Lennie Dickens.
Billie enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1948 and served his country honorably until 1951 in the Korean War.
He started working at Houston Natural Gas after the Army and progressed to foreman. He was a volunteer Fireman for South Houston for several years. He started his own fabrication business in 1976 with his friend Don Williamson.
Billie served at the South Houston Masonic lodge for nearly 50 years and was a 32nd degree mason and he was also a Shriner. He also loved hunting and fishing.
