I told this story during the funeral but wanted to also place it here. What is the influence of a godly Mother? When the four of us were small, Mom would bathe us every Saturday evening. Sunday morning she would wake us up, feed us breakfast and dress us in our "Sunday best." Then she would take us to Lindale Baptist Church at Irvington and Loop 610 and drop us off for Sunday school. She returned a few minutes after 11:00 to pick us up. Her influence ultimately led to my divine encounter with Bob Lockridge that resulted in my salvation and eventually to my becoming a pastor. Mom did have an ulterior motive. That one hour a week allowed Mom and Dad to have one hour of quiet time a week without four rambunctious little kids running around the house.
