Obituary for Mary Lou Meriano (Gomez)

Mary Lou Meriano (Gomez)
Mary Lou Meriano was born Mary Lou Gomez on August 19th, 1936 to Francisco and Benita Gomez in Victoria, Texas. She married Vincent Meriano in 1955 and moved to Connecticut and then Houston where she raised her four children. Over the course of her 83 years she lived in Galveston, Houston, and LaRue; saw all of her children and many of her grandchildren graduate from college; and celebrated the first marriage of one of her grandchildren. She finally returned to Houston for her final rest on November 27th, 2019.
Mary Lou (known to her family and nine grandchildren as Grandma) worked for twenty years as an office administrator at Janowski Elementary School. She was known for helping students who didn’t have lunch money. She loved holiday decorations, trips to Louisiana casinos, word search puzzles, and chocolate. She had strong opinions and a sharp sense of humor that she didn’t mind sharing with everyone around her.
Grandma is survived by her husband Vince, sister Dolores, children Sandra, Frank, Paul, and Reneé, and grandchildren Michael, Anna, Robyn, Meghan, Kyle, Nicole, Gabriel, Kasey, and Matthew.
We will all miss Grandma’s spirit and her endless support and love, but we are thankful for her full life and the beautiful family she raised.
