Obituary for
Sherrie Riley (Smith)
Sherrie started singing from a young age of 10 with her parents. She loved her church family, traveling from state to state and singing Gospel music. Her parents instilled a love for God and God’s people from an early age which she passed on to her family.
She inherited her sense of humor from her mother and loved her Seminole Indian heritage. After the devastating passing of her mother, she continued to be a stabilizing force for her family and siblings.
Little did she know 4 months later, she would meet the love of her life Mark AKA “Pookie” on a blind date in Mt. Carmel, IL, while attending a youth meeting with her girls. They had their first date at Pizza Hut and sang a gospel song in church for the first time together the following day. Mark filled the void in her life, and they had a wonderful marriage for 28 years.
She was passionate about Gospel music, worshipping God and being a servant to His people.
Sherrie was loved by many far and wide. Her presence will be sorely missed but her memory will be forever held in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her mother Frances Smith. She is survived by her loving husband, Mark Riley; daughters Sharissa/Clifford McCants of Wisconsin; Katrina/Shane Lockler of Spring, TX. Grandkids: Moriah/Josue, Chance, Lauren, Landon, Cam’Ron, numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
As there will be no graveside service, limiting flowers is suggested, but floral arrangements will still be gladly
accepted and appreciated. In Lieu of Flowers, a fund for Sherrie’s unexpected medical expenses has been set up. Checks can be made out to Mark Riley.
