Obituary for David Rose

David Rose
David Rose passed away peacefully on June 29, 2023.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, July 6th at Rosewood Funeral Home, 2602 S. Houston Avenue, Humble, TX 77396.

Sir Jeffrey Wright will be officiating.

David was born in Ellisville, Mississippi on December 19, 1938. The third of seven brothers, his family moved to Texas in the early 1950’s. He attended the University of Houston and graduated with a degree in
Marketing. From 1967 to the early 1980’s, David worked as an account manager and systems analyst for various corporations including Hughes Tool Company and Riviana Foods as Corporate Business Systems Analyst where he proposed new systems, planned, designed and developed new software applications.

In 1982, with encouragement from his big brother Ralph, David pursued a career in law enforcement and became Deputy Constable for Precinct 1 of the Harris County Constable Department. He retired in 2000.

David enjoyed his retirement years with the love of his life, Vicky. They went camping, fifth-wheeling and explored the United States. David was an avid reader and an aficionado of western films. He loved his
classic cars and could replace an engine with the precision of a surgeon, except for a few leftover nuts and bolts on the floor! One of his greatest joys was listening to his granddaughter, Kathryn (“Kate”) play her guitar and sing.

David once told a story about his last hunting trip. It was very cold. He decided to stayed behind at camp while his friends went out to hunt. He sat down, leaned against a tree and fell asleep. He awoke to a
loud snort and a scraping sound. When he opened his eyes, there was a buck standing in front of him, looking directly at him. David realized he had fallen asleep and his body was frozen. The buck turned and ran off. Although David acknowledged the many miracles in his life, he seldom spoke of them. He only shared these special events with loved ones years after the occurrence.

A spiritual man, David was active in church during his early life. As an adult, being an avid reader, he read the holy books of many of the world’s religions. He re-established his commitment and made his profession of faith to Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was baptized at the Missionary Baptist church in Spring, TX.

David was a Master Mason and Worshipful Master of Reagan Lodge No. 1037, and a Charter Member of Billy W. Tinsley Daylight Lodge No. 1458.

He was High Priest of Wes Irving Chapter No. 490 Royal Arch Mason, member of Will N. Kidd No. 424 Royal Arch Mason, Thrice Illustrious Master of Tommy Fox Council No. 405 Royal and Select Master and member of San Jacinto No. 347 Royal and Select Master. He is past Commander of Houston Commandery No. 95 and Member of Ruthann Commandery No. 2, and active in the Melrose Commadery No. 109.

David was a member of Houston Scottish Rite. He was 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, and received Knight Commander Court of Honor in Lodge No. 95. He was also Co-Chairman of the Security Committee.

He was past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 415.

David took great pride and joy in his family — as husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, son, brother and nephew.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, who was the love of his life, Victoria Rose, his son, David Thomas Rose and his wife Jackie and their two daughters, Meghan Hull and her husband Daniel, their two
sons, Jackson and Axel, and Kathryn Rose. His step-children, Eric Shoemake, his daughter Alyssa Miessner and her husband Riley, their two sons, Finn and Ridge and Elizabeth Renaud and her husband, Francois. His brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy and Sherry Rose, Bobby Rose, Curtis Rose and Darlene Taylor and Roy and Janet Rose, Doris Rose and all his nieces and nephews.

David is preceded in death by his parents Rubin W. and Bytha Bush Rose, his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Marlene Rose, his brother Ralph Rose, and nephews, Thomas Keith Rose and Billy Wayne Rose, Jr.
