Obituary for James Howard Thompson

James H Thompson Obituary

James Howard Thompson, of Kingwood, TX, passed away on July 22, 2023 surrounded by family. He was born to Earnest and Elenora Thompson on July 11, 1938 in Metcalf County, Summer Shade Kentucky.
James was a loving son, dedicated husband, protective father, and affectionate grandfather. Family was always a top priority. James taught his children to be independent, accountable and to embrace a strong work ethic and love of family.

His passion was military service law enforcement. From 1956 to 59 he proudly served in the U.S. Navy. From 1979 to 1983 he was a volunteer Sheriff’s deputy for Montgomery County. In the early 1990’s he worked for the Texas Department of Corrections until his retirement in August of 2000.
He enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren. Going to gatherings with family. Visiting his property in Kentucky, Watching westerns, old war movies and the History channel.

James is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary T. Thompson, parents, Ernest Clyde and Elnora Thompson, brothers Tommy Thompson, Jack Thompson, sister Mildred Tsukagoshi, surviving brother Ernest Ray "Billy" Thompson.

He is survived by his children, son, James H. Thompson Jr, wife Shannon, daughter, Theresa A. Sherwood husband Don, son Robert J. Thompson wife Sharon, grandchildren Lynn Balabanos, husband Vasileios, James H. Thompson III, Katie Thompson Jagiere, husband Dada, Matthew Thompson, Jennifer Burns, husband Cody, Stephanie Worden, husband Travis, Jonathan Sherwood, Ashley Thompson, Allison Thompson, Jamie Phillips, Randy Phillips and 12 great grandchildren.
