Fayola Younts (Schneider)
Fayola Loretta Younts, at age 101, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, August 4, 2023. She was born on June 1, 1922, in Cyclone, TX. She was a nurturing and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, with a little bit of wit and a whole lot of wisdom.
She graduated from Westphalia High School in 1939 and soon after met her loving husband, C.A. Younts. Fayola and C.A married on June 25, 1942. They loved each other for 71 great years until his death in 2014.
Fayola followed C.A. to South Dakota, where he attended boot camp with the United States Army Air Corps. When he was later stationed in Bora Bora during World War II, she returned home to be with her family in Rosebud, TX.
She worked as a receptionist at a dental practice to help C.A. through dental school. They moved to Humble, TX in 1951, where she welcomed their first child, Timothy in 1953, their first daughter, Theresa in 1955, and later welcomed son, Todd in 1960, followed by Tana in 1962.
Fayola was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church for 70 years and served in numerous roles helping in many ways, but most would know her best for her service with the Altar Guild for 40+ years.
She loved to host friends to play bridge, traveled around the country with her family in their RV, hosted the greatest Christmas Eve party in town, attended many, many grandchildren's events and got her hair done every Friday without fail.
Fayola is survived by her son Tim Younts; her daughter Tana Nelson; granddaughters, Amy Bookout, Emily Payne, Shelby Frederick and husband Jonathan; grandsons Charlie Younts and wife Whitney, Matthew Younts and wife Sha and Austin Nelson; great grandchildren Conner, Tanner and Tate Bookout, Bryce and Fallon Payne, Ethan Nelson and Kimber Frederick, Kensley and Kaylynn Younts, and upcoming baby boy Younts; numerous nieces and nephews; and close, lifelong friend and neighbor, Pat Ford; as well as many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband C.A. Younts; mother Ida Schneider; father Otto Schneider; daughter Theresa and son Todd; siblings Otto Schneider, Nona Rinn, Selma Engbrook and Florene Gudat.
The family would like to thank her dedicated and loving caregivers Norma Umanzor and Valerie Covington who spent many hours over the last several years loving her as if she was family to them.
Fayola’s visitation will be at Rosewood Funeral Home, 2602 S. Houston Ave, Humble, TX, on Monday, August 7, 2023 from 5-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 527 S. Houston Ave, Humble, TX, on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 11 a.m.
Graveside service will follow at Brookside Memorial, 13747 Eastex Fwy, Houston, TX.
The family invites everyone to join them at St. Mary Magdalene Church Hall after graveside services for snacks, drinks and fellowship.
