Obituary for
Frances Jane Bear (Rodgers)
Frances Jane Bear was a very energetic and lively woman who lived with vascular dementia & liver disease for over 10 years. She accepted hospice care for liver cancer 26 JUL 2023 and passed away in her own bed at 8:03 AM, Thursday morning, 21 Sep 2023.
Frances was born in Hillsboro, Texas 17 Sep 1934 and graduated Galena Park High School, class of 1952. She married her high school sweetheart, Samuel Joseph Bear, October 30, 1952 and spent many years serving the church together. After enjoying a 28 year career with Goodyear Tire & Rubber (Pasadena, TX) from 1965 to 1993 she embraced retirement living for the next 30 years. Frances lived life fully, was rarely seen without matching jewelry - head to toe, loved travel and entertaining with family and friends. She often converted their lake house garage to a dance floor with good food and skinny-dipping off the pier. She planned many family vacations, somehow wound up on "black diamond" ski trails, and shock her grandkids with morning margarita's on cruises. In her later years her dementia added a twist as she would "tell-tales" about skydiving in Argentina, going over Niagara Falls in a barrel and without exception declared every "black top road" we drove in the area was the same one she and dad "pulled our trailer on the way to Ink's Lake" each summer.
Her husband of 54 years, Samuel Bear, preceded her death in 2006. She is survived by sister, Wanda (Cricket) Howard, daughters Debra Bear Andree, Cara Jane Spores , Helen Bear Franz ; 5 grandchildren - Samantha Haugle, Michael Spores, Courtney Bailey, Larissa Messner, Sean Andree; and 6 great grandchildren - Everett Haugle, Leonidas Bailey, Isla Haugle, Remi Messner, Bodhi Messner and Fletcher Bailey. Also survived by niece Shannon Eaton, nephews Scott Howard and Bruce Bear.
Friends and Family are welcome to visit the viewing Sunday 1 OCT 2023, 2:00-4:00 PM, at Rosewood Funeral Home, Humble, Texas. A brief graveside service will be Monday 2 OCT 2023 , 1:00-1:30 PM, at Houston Veterans' National Cemetery
