Obituary for
Patsy Ruth Hurt (Khoury)
Patsy Ruth Hurt, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 88 on November 3, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer. Patsy was born on October 24, 1935, in Sulphur, Louisiana, to George and Rosa Khoury. At two years old, her family moved to New Iberia, Louisiana, where Patsy grew up, made life-long friends, and married her true soulmate, Wayne, in 1958. Patsy and Wayne went on to have three children, Pam, Mike, and Greg, and in1968, the family moved to Texas.
Patsy’s first job was at the age of 13 at an ice cream parlor. While Patsy had a few jobs during her lifetime, her role as a mother was her most cherished, and she took pride in the accomplishments and happiness of her children.
Some of her favorite memories with Wayne were their many trips to Las Vegas and road trips across the country. She loved staying in the hotels, eating out every meal, and shopping in the local stores.
Patsy had several passions and was very competitive in nature. She loved her weekly bridge games and was a tenacious player, coming in first place more often than not. She was also an expert bowler, bowling many games over 200. She was known for her fabulous cooking, especially her perfected fried chicken. She also loved playing pokeno, eating out, and dancing the jitterbug to Motown.
Patsy was predeceased by her husband, Wayne; her father and mother, George Sr. and Rosa; and her two brothers, George Jr. and Wayne. She is survived by her three children, Pam DeYoung (Richard), Mike Hurt (Jan), and Greg Hurt (James); her five cherished grandchildren, Kelly Pritchard (Ryne), Kristen DeYoung, Tanner Hurt (Laura), Tucker Hurt (Kaylee), and Brian DeYoung (Kristen); and her eight adored great-grandchildren, Paisley Pritchard (11), Parker Pritchard (8), Peyton Pritchard (6), Crew Hurt (6), Hatcher Hurt (5), Cort Hurt (4), Holdyn Hurt (4), and Lennon Hurt (1). Her family will greatly miss Grammy’s homemade birthday cakes.
A memorial service to honor and remember Patsy will be held in the Chapel of Rosewood Atascocita Funeral Home on Friday, November10th at noon.
