Obituary for James Calhoun Keys

James Calhoun Keys of Houston, Texaspassed away on November 20th, 2023 in Houston, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday November 27th at 10:00am at Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble, Texas with Lutheran pastor and family friend Don Carlson, officiating.

James Keys was born in Teague, Texas to James and Georgia Keys on August 7th, 1926. After graduating from Teague High School, he decided to join the Navy. He was honorably discharged then attended college at Louisiana Tech and The University of Texas. He became a loyal University of Texas fan. He then became a draftsman in the oil and gas industry, a career he continued until his retirement. He met his wife Ethel, and they married on July 14, 1950, in Houston, Texas. His hobbies included playing pinochle with his wife, sister, and brother-in-law; bowling; and after retirement, making beautiful stained glass. At Christmas he made fudge and peanut brittle for his whole family. He also enjoyed photographing his trips and family events.

James Keys is proceeded in death by his Wife Ethel Keys, Father James C. Keys, Mother Georgia Lotshaw (Keys) Stepfather O.G. Lotshaw and sister Lois Austin.

James Keys is survived by his sons Jamie Keys and wife Paula, Mark Keys and wife Dena, Phillip Keys and wife Stacy, daughters Karen Proctor and husband Craig, Nancy Krenek and Kathy, 11 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Joshua Keys, Adam Keys and Michael Keys, Also, Dave Dinkel, Jonathan Hellmuth and David Krenek.
