Obituary for James Craig Nelson

James Craig Nelson of Houston, Texas died February 14, 2024 in the Woodlands,Texas at the age of 77. Craig was born in Jacksonville, Texas to James and Thersa Nelson on September 9, 1946. Craig graduated from Furr High School in 1965. Following graduation Craig was called to serve his country. He enjoyed his time serving in the U.S. Army and being deployed to Germany. He attended San Jacinto College and was a valued employee of Kenworth trucks for over 30 years. Craig was also a Lifetime Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, a proud Mason and Member of Shriners International.  He loved cars and working on them as well. Craig had many beautiful classic cars and participated in many car shows. He also had quite the eye for a nice pair of boots and his boot collection was vast.

Craig is survived by his sister Kay Barrett and brother Roger Nelson and his wife Kathy.  

Craig is also survived by his beloved wife of 32 years Fredia Nelson and her children Teresa Seay, Letisha Seay-Boyd, Chris Seay, his son Jason Craig Nelson and his daughter Leslie Nelson Daw. Craig also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren.

The family would like to thank hospice for their care and compassion and asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Monday, Feb 19, 2024 at Rosewood Atascocita Funeral Home. Funeral Services; 12:00 Noon, on Tuesday, Feb 20th in the Atascocita Chapel. The committal and interment service with honors will be at 9:00 AM, Wednesday, Feb 21st at the Houston National Cemetery.
