John Elton Cryer
John Elton Cryer, born October 14, 1940 in DeRidder, LA., was 83 years old when his heavenly Father called him home on February 15, 2024.
Dad would say do not be sad, but rejoice. He is with Jesus.
Dad wore many hats throughout his years and was fondly known by many different names: Buddy, Sergeant, Dad, Uncle Buddy, Palpal, Mr. Cryer and Honey.
He loved caring for his family and his dogs. He enjoyed his job with Delta Airlines and after retirement, working for Humble Independent School District as a bus driver.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Loy and Mattie Cryer; his brother, Loy J. Cryer; his sisters, Delaine Stout and Erble Ponton.
Those left behind to grieve the loss of this godly man is his wife of 62 years, LaJohn Cryer; his daughter, Brenda Owen; his son, Craig Cryer; and his sister, Carrie Ponton. Also, grandsons, Nathan, Andrew, and Jacob Owen; his only granddaughter, Valerie Cryer; and great-grand children, Olivia and Logan Owen; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024, in Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble, TX. Funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., in Rosewood Funeral Home. Minister Larry Dangerfield will officiate services. Burial will follow at Rosewood Cemetery.
