Obituary for
Ronald Haney Soward
Ronald Haney Soward passed away peacefully at his home in Deer Park, Texas on March 5, 2024. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 18, 1943.
After serving in the U. S. Air Force for four years (1960-1964), Ron worked many years for Houston Lighting & Power (HL & P) as a lineman and then as a driving instructor. In retirement, he returned to work as a bus driver for Deer Park ISD. Ron’s children and Grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved spending time with family, keeping in contact with friends, collecting recipes and cooking. He had a special place in his heart for special needs children and he loved being their bus driver.
Ron is survived by his wife of 37 years, Donna; son Jim Lambert and wife Donna and their child Gibson; son Tim Lambert and spouse Samantha; daughter Cheri Johnson and husband Gary and their children Hailey and husband Ty Harris, Ashley, and Sydney; daughter Amber Walker and husband Paul and their children Jacob and wife Carlee, and Ryan; daughter Rhonda Knapik and children Kaitlyn and her children CJ and Levi, Hunter, Michael, Matthew, and Fisher; daughter Jeanne Rivette and husband Clay and their children Whitney and Chelsea; and daughter Kathy Long and husband James and their child Reese.
He is predeceased in death by his parents Alvin Tony and Allie Ruth Soward; siblings Esther Layton, Alvin Connie Soward, Stanley Ray Soward, and grandson James Michael Lambert.

A come and go visitation will be held Friday, March 15, 2024 from 5pm to 8pm at Rosewood Funeral Home 3939 Pasadena Blvd, Pasadena, Texas 77503
His family will gather March 22, 2024 at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas where he will be laid to rest alongside his brothers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a memorial contribution in Ron's name to either The Special Olympics or The Wounded Warrior Project.
