Dennis Mitchell on an emergency call to my house for my wife that was having dizzy and discomfort spells like heart problems, we live four long blocks from Station 29 and they were the first responders along with my son Capt. Charles Salazar, Jr. While the para-medics were doing test and reviewing the portable EKG results, Dennis introduced himself as the Pitiching Coach for my grand-daughter Celeste Salazar and I told him that I needed to talk to him about another pupil prospect my soon to be 12u softball player great-grand-daughter Biranna Vargas, which needed lessons on the proper mevhanics of pitching, and he agreed to looking and see if she had potential. After my wife was released from the Hospital and at home we got a visit from Capt. Mitchell to see how my wife was doing and his concern about about her health. I aquired his phone number and we agreed to an appointment when he was giving my grand-daughter Celeste a lesson to bring G-Grand-daughter Brianna to see how he conducted his Pitiching Lesson. He helped Brianna to change her style and dilivery and ease for indurance at the sport. He had a 10" x 2" PVC piece of pipie with two caps on the ends that he called his large asprin tablet where he kept a 8 1/2 x 11 Calendar with yellow dates high-lited on the dates he was available for pitching lessons.July the 16th at 11:00a.m. we followed Celeste's lesson and we were dicussing a possible return for August 2nd. On July 31, my son Charles, Jr., called with the sad news that we had lost a very Dear Public Servant, Friend, Coach, Above All Devoted Husband, Father. Even thou I only got to know him for Too Short A Time, the Salazar Familiy will remember him for a life time in Spirit and Our Prayers. RIP Dennis, Old Coach Charlie, Sr.
