Eugene Rivera Ybarra
Eugene Rivera Ybarra passed away on Labor Day, September 4, 2017, in Pasadena, Texas. He was born on October 9, 1935, in Houston, Texas, to Jesse Ybarra and Anita Rivera.
Eugene graduated from Pasadena High School and married Alice Pena on August 5, 1956. He used his entrepreneurial skills and hard work to carve a highly successful niche for himself in the food industry as owner of El-Toro Restaurants for 56 years and owner of El-Matador Foods for 31 years.
Eugene Ybarra leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years, Alice, his children Tony Ybarra, Victor Ybarra, Russell Ybarra, Erick Ybarra, Alice Chandler, Moses Ybarra, Roland Ybarra and Troy Ybarra and their families, including 26 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Evangelina Castillo and Jeanette Hyland and a brother, Donald Ybarra.
Eugene was predeceased by his father, Jesse Ybarra, his mother, Anita Rivera and his siblings Elida Rivera, Jesse Ybarra, Jr., and Elizabeth Gonzalez.
In addition to his love of and commitment to his restaurants, Eugene enjoyed working at his ranch and raising cattle. He also enjoyed deep sea fishing and looked forward to hunting during deer season.
